Aviation Careers Expo Gets Bigger and Better in 09

17/08/2009

Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown and Camden hosted its third Aviation Careers Expo on Wednesday 12 August 2009 reporting stronger numbers and positive reviews from attendees. The Aviation Careers Expos is hosted by Sydney Metro Airports to support the local general aviation industry by promoting the opportunities and potential career paths available in aviation.

“We were very pleased with the student numbers, which were up on the previous years. The event attracted over 400 students who were accompanied by their careers advisors, parents and even grandparents. It was pleasing to see a bus load of students from the Central Coast region,” said Mr Mario Bayndrian, General Manager Aviation, Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown and Camden

“We had an exciting array of exhibitors from many noteworthy aviation industry companies and organisations, who all presented in a highly professional manner.

“Local company Aerospace Aviation added great style to their display by bringing in a new Citation jet into the hangar.

“Schofields Flying Club showcased a new aircraft which students were able to experience first hand in the cockpit.

“The most popular exhibiting aircraft was the Navy’s Seahawk helicopter. The helicopter and its crew made a dramatic entrance flying into the Airport at the start of the Expo. It was the first time the Airport has had a visit from a Navy Seahawk. Students were able to sit in the cockpit and speak with the crew about their work.

The exhibitors at this year’s event included:
• Basair Aviation College?
• Pacific Flight Services?
• Schofields Flying Club Ltd?
• Aerospace Aviation?
• Airborne Aviation (Camden)?
• Australian Business Limited Apprenticeships Centre?
• Dept of Defence?
• UNSW?
• Qantas Engineering & Padstow TAFE
• Fast Track Pilot Training ?
• Royal Australian Navy

“A great big thank you to our sponsors, Defence Jobs, Aerospace Aviation, Byron Aviation and Pacific Flight Services, who greatly assisted in promoting the event.

“We are reviewing the event to see how we can improve again. We will review the event fully including looking at the best day of the week to host it and the frequency of the event. The feedback we have received has been very positive so we are confident this is an important date in the aviation calendar,” concluded Mr Bayndrian.
