Sydney Metro Airports Release Preliminary Draft Master Plan

16 September 2009
Bankstown and Camden Airports have prepared and placed on public exhibition Preliminary Draft Master Plan and Preliminary Draft Airport Environment Strategy documents for each Airport.

Importantly, the documents will retain the fundamental concepts of the 2004/05 MP (as amended by the 2008 Minor Variation for Bankstown).

The Preliminary Draft Plan details the intention to continue to develop these Airports to support the growth and expansion of Western Sydney, as well as the providing ongoing quality infrastructure to support the commercial general aviation activities and industry in the Sydney basin.

These Airports already deliver over 6,000 jobs and more than $1.3 billion in gross economic output. The Airports have the capacity to deliver significant jobs growth in Western Sydney and create new commercial opportunities in the region.  The Plans outline our strategic approach to meeting these goals.

An important part of the development of these Plans is the public release of the Preliminary Draft Master Plan (PDMP) and Preliminary Draft Airport Environment Strategy (PDAES) 2010 for Bankstown and Camden Airports. The period of formal public exhibition and consultation on these documents will be 16 September 2009 until 18 December 2009.

The Airports are undertaking a wide consultation with the community, making the documents available at 18 venues around Bankstown and Camden Airports.   Public Information Events will be held at Bankstown and Camden Airports on Sunday 25 October 2009 and 1 November 2009, respectively, from 11am till 2pm.

Both the Preliminary Draft Master Plan and Preliminary Draft Airport Environment Strategy are available on the Sydney Metro Airport website, together with a Quick Reference Guide for each Airport in easily downloaded PDF format.

Details on how to make a written submission are on the website. All submissions will be acknowledged.

Ends.
