Pickles Auctions Expansion on Track

30 March 2010

Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown today announced the works for the expansion of the Pickles Auctions operations, in the eastern section of the Airport, are progressing well and on schedule to finish in mid-May 2010.

“The works schedule is on track with the grading and levelling nearing completion and landscaping will shortly commence and with the new turf being laid in the dish drain near the netball courts,” said Mr Kim Ellis, Chief Executive Officer, Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown.

“Concrete ramps will be installed between levels will be constructed linking the old Pickles sites with the new site.

The project works conducted by Western Earthmoving, commenced in December 2009 and remains on schedule to finish mid May 2010.

“This is a significant project for the Airport, as it expands the Pickles site from 4.2 hectares to 10 hectares. Pickles will use the additional land in this precinct for the storage and general auction of motor vehicles. This precinct has been used for auctions and vehicle storage since 1993.

“The Airport continues to ensure the preservation of the Environmental Protection Zone to the east of the new site and the parklands to the north. The latest works include landscaping to protect the Environment Protection Zone with mounded landscaped areas for visual appeal which are designed to mitigate any noise impact on residents in Yanderra Road,” concluded Mr Ellis.
