Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown & Camden - CEO Succession

21 January 2010

BAC Airports Pty Ltd announced today that, after nine years as the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kim Ellis will be leaving the company at the end of his current contract in June 2010.

BAC Airports is the owner of Sydney Metro Airports Bankstown and Camden. Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is the premier general aviation airport in NSW and Australia’s busiest airport with over 360,000 aircraft movements per annum.

The Chairman and Board of BAC Airports have thanked Kim for his leadership and commitment to developing the company and the airports over the past nine years.

'We are tremendously grateful for Kim's achievements during his tenure as CEO,' the Chairman said.  'Kim has been instrumental in transferring these airports from government to private ownership and driving through the massive change needed to create viable and commercial entities.  Furthermore, he has made a particularly valuable contribution to the company through the implementation of new financial governance, safety and security regimes and his concurrent engagement of the airport stakeholders including Federal, State and Local Governments.'

Kim Ellis responded: 'I am immensely proud of what has been accomplished by the entire team at BAC Airports since these airports were purchased through the Federal government's privatisation process.  Since 2001, we have achieved many milestones including the development of significant new aviation and commercial retail properties, the growth of aviation traffic to record levels and establishing Australian benchmark standards for communication and consultation with the community.'

'After a significant period of time as CEO, I believe that now is an appropriate time for the company to transition to new leadership and for me to pursue new professional challenges.’

BAC Airports has engaged executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to conduct an international search for a new CEO, as part of an orderly succession process.  It is expected that a new appointment will be made in sufficient time to allow a suitable handover from Kim Ellis.

Ends.
