Camden Airport Community Group Takes Off

23 March 2011

Sydney Metro Airport Camden has announced today the interim Camden Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group has been established and it will convene its first meeting in early April 2011.

“Sydney Metro Airport Camden has adhered to the Guidelines for Airport Community Aviation Consultation Groups published by the Department of Infrastructure & Transport in convening the group, said Mr Colin Grove, CEO, Sydney Metro Airport Camden.

“Sydney Metro Airports has canvassed widely for applicants for the Group, however, to date we have not been able to attract a broad section of applicants from the targeted stakeholder groups.

“In order to commence community involvement, Sydney Metro Airport Camden will convene an interim Camden Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group for 6 months, during which time we will seek further applicants from the broader community.

“The Airport has appointed Robyn Claremont and Louise Davies as Independent Chairperson and as Facilitator for the Group. Both are exceptionally qualified mediators with a broad range of experience in chairing community groups.

“Sydney Metro Airport Camden has received ten submissions from interested parties seeking membership of the Camden Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group (CACACG) from Airport users, residents and related interest groups.  The ten applicants have been invited to join the interim Camden Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group.

“The Airport will invite all interim members to apply to join the permanent Camden Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group in 6 months time and we will assess all applications to determine the permanent composition of the Group.

“All meetings of the Camden Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group are closed and only those invited to be interim members are eligible to attend. The representatives are then encouraged to brief their respective community groups on the outcomes of the meeting.

“We welcome applications from anyone interested to join the permanent group. Applications details are available on our website or by calling the Airport on 9796-2300, concluded Mr Grove.
