Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown Fly Free Weekend a Success

Following the initial Fly Free Weekend promotion offered in 2011, Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown has again shown support to the General Aviation industry by repeating the initiative this past summer.

“From November 2011 to February 2012 inclusive light fixed wing aircraft were encouraged to operate at Bankstown Airport without aeronautical charges being levied over the weekends,” said Mr Colin Grove, CEO, Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown.

“Although the weather was unkind on some weekends, a total 1,530 fixed wing aircraft weighing less than 2,500 kg were eligible to receive relief from airport charges.

“Bankstown Airport Limited has again taken a proactive measure to encourage more flying hours in an effort to stimulate activity to all sectors of the aviation support fraternity,”
