The airspace around Bankstown, Camden and Hoxton Park Airports is protected from obstacle intrusion by the Airports (Protection of Airspace) Regulations.
This may require builders, developers or architects to seek information regarding a proposed development or modification to an existing structure.
The fee for all Height Assessments for off-airport building enquiries is as follows:
- Single Dwelling
- Dual - Occupancy
- Construction Cranes (exceeding 3 months)
- All Others

Requirements for height assessment applications are as follows:

Development Application Assessment Data Requirements
- Full written description of proposed development characteristics and site details.
- Development site located by:
- street names bordering site; or
- co-ordinates of site boundary in MGA 94 survey grid format; or
- co-ordinates of centre of site in MGA 94 survey grid format with block area details in sq m.
- Development height detailed by:
- elevation characteristics (height above ground in metres or RL (AHD)) of development proposal including any post construction additions such as aerials, spires, towers, etc.
- reduced levels (RLs) relative to Australian Height Datum (AHD) over entire site at grid separation of 5m; or
- contours over entire site at maximum interval of 0.5m.
Temporary Structure Application Assessment Data Requirements
- Full written description of proposed equipment/structure to be erected and purpose of application.
- Location of temporary structure by:
- street names bordering site; or
- co-ordinates of site boundary in MGA 94 survey grid format; or
- co-ordinates of centre of site in MGA 94 survey grid format with block area details in sq m.
- Temporary structure height detailed by:
- full height capabilities of temporary structure/equipment, including base structure and boom height if applicable.
- reduced levels (RLs) relative to Australian Height Datum (AHD) over entire site at grid separation of 5m; or contours over entire site at maximum interval of 0.5m.
