Camden Airport Welcomes Government Approval Of Its Master Plan
Camden Airport welcomed the announcement by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport and Regional Services, John Anderson, approving the Draft Master Plan.
“Camden Airport is pleased the Draft Master Plan has been approved with the Minister Anderson acknowledging the role of Camden Airport as the leading sport and recreational general aviation facility in New South Wales,” said Mr Kim Ellis, Chief Executive Officer, Camden Airport.
“The Master Plan is a high level planning document for the Airport over the next 20 years. The Master Plan aims to maintain Camden Airport’s reputation as Australia’s premier recreational General Aviation Airport and build on its significant contribution to local tourism and the economy,” said Mr Ellis.
The Camden Airport Master Plan proposes to make more efficient use of the land to deliver better outcomes for aviation and other uses at the Airport, and the Airport Environment Strategy, which was approved in February, will ensure this is done with full regard to our custodial responsibilities for the site.
Key features of the Master Plan include:
- Revised ANEF (Australian Noise Exposure Forecasts) contours to assist Camden Council in their land use planning around the Airport
- Preserving the area currently reserved for glider activity, including provision for an additional 5 glider storage units and associated facilities when required
- Provision of area for an additional 14 powered aircraft hangars when required
- A substantial increase in areas reserved for apron and grass aircraft parking
Copies of the Master Plan and Environment Strategy are available on our website – www.bankstownairport.com.au and for purchase on CD-Rom for $10 from the Bankstown Airport Management Centre.
